About us

On this walking food tour of the colorful Pike Place Market we'll sample many delicious bites from the Northwest's top food purveyors, highlighting the wonderful people and rich history that make it the "Heart and Soul of Seattle".

Our mission is to share our passion for great food and love of the Pike Place Market with all of our guests.

Our goal is to enhance every visitors experience and understanding of the market by sharing thoughtful and sometimes funny stories of the fine people, rich history, diverse culture and delicious food we find inspiring.

Michael Rogers, a Seattle native for over 15 years, spent his most memorable summer in Seattle working at a Pike Place Market restaurant. He continued working in the restaurant industry for several more years before establishing Beeline Tours, a tour and transportation company, in 1996. Taste Pike Place Market is a natural progression for Michael, combining his tourism industry expertice, passion for wonderful food and love for the market into an entertaining yet educational new venture.

Matsumi Kakuyama comes from Tokyo, Japan with extensive experience in the luxury travel industry. Prior to moving to Seattle, Matsumi established and managed the Seattle and Washington state tourism promotion program for Japan, and a conference services manager with the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo. Matsumi's passion is cooking, especially Italian and Japanese. She is also a freelance food writer who has written features on Tokyo's embassy chefs, and has contributed numerous articles to food and lifestyle publications in Japan. Matsumi's favorite place to shop and dine is Pike Place Market as it offers all the elements of true market-- fresh, seasonal and natural products, a vibrant and diverse cultural mix, and tastes and smells representing all corners of the world.

Steve Corless, a native of Seattle, recently returned home after 15 years working overseas as a Foreign Service officer, and as an independent marketing consultant. Steve's passion is travel, and of course eating along the way. He believes that the best way to truly experience a new culture and make new friends anywhere is through his stomach. For Steve, exploring Pike Place is like a traveler's journey-- every visit welcomes an unexpected discovery or little adventure.
